Johannesburg is the 2nd greatest town in Africa, with more than 3 million people contacting this busy metropolis house and if you want to visit that remarkable city then that hotelbye is the spot to start. Johannesburg presents guests an event as distinctive and diverse as the city itself. Whether you are on business, searching for a social encounter, an adrenaline rush or simply want to relax and rest for a few times, the city of Johannesburg has everything you're looking for and more! In Johannesburg you can look at the Soweto (an abbreviation for South-western Townships) at 20 kilometres southwest of Johannesburg. This place presents guests a trip to the soul of the fight for freedom and the birthplace of the struggle for democracy.

One would hope that people answering a question actually knew the answer themselves. Unfortunately, as we can see, that is not the case. I'm referring to lily_grilli amongst others.

If you are speaking English it is pronounced "Jo". No question about it!

In fact, I beleive all English speaking South Africans are either annoyed by or find humor in it being pronounced "Yo" while speaking English.

It basically depends on where in South Africa you are from. Some people say 'yo' and others say 'jo'. Most people from the Cape Town and Garden Route say 'jo' and people who are from Pretoria or Joburg say 'yo'. It also depends on which language you are speaking, Afrikaans people tend to say 'yo' more than English.

The name is from the Africaans language which is partly derived from Dutch therefrore it may sound like the "yo" that you refer to.
