Hey, I've been to South Africa twice, once in 2000/01 and second in 2004/05 (we went over New Year hence the slash in the dates!) We stayed in Empangeni with some family, it's quite near Richard's Bay-not sure if you've heard of either of those places but they are about 2 hours north of Durban on the east coast! I love S.A, I love the weather, I love seeing my family, I like the people I meet, I like how cheap everything is (especialy compared to here in the U.K anyway!) I just love it all! On our trips there we've been to Shakaland to see the Zulus, on lots of safaris (so far been to Thula Thula and Umfolozi Game reserves as well as a night time safari in a big cat park) we went on the boat ride in St.Lucia (not caribbean st.lucia obviously!) to see the Hippos and we also went to the water park in Durban (uShaka) last time we were there too! Love all the animals, were so lucky to be within about 4 metres of a HUGE african elephant (while we sat in a tiny Ford car!) on our last trip to Umfolozi! Oh and we also go to the croc parks, first time we went I held a juvenile crocodile, so cool-Steve Irwin eat your heart out! :-) Also drank lots of Castle Lager and had Braii's (or BBQs-not sure how to spell your word for it!)!!! Just gotta save up to go back again now! So yep, I love S.A! Hope that answers your question/s!

Never met anyone from South Africa but I work with a lot of people from West Africa. Sudan, Senegal, Togo. They seem to come from areas that are extremely poor and their countries are in civil wars. How is South Africa? Not as bad as other parts of the continent I suppose.
